About my work at Zerion

When you came to Zerion, what was the main problem and what did you want to achieve?

I found Zerion as a portfolio tracker: users could only watch their assets and DeFi positions.

But to achieve ambitious goals and attract as many users as possible, we needed to focus on implementing the ability to sign transactions. In other words, transform Zerion into a Web3 wallet.

"Users could track their assets, but couldn't interact — this was a huge opportunity. So we transformed Zerion into easy-to-use and intuitive wallet, allowing users to send transactions."

What key initiatives did you lead and how did they impact the product?
I was lucky to work on many key initiatives over 4.5 years. But among all, I would highlight:

Wallet Launch: I designed iOS and Android apps, created a new Onboarding flow with wallet creation and backups.

New Features: together with the team, implemented Swap, Send, Bridge and support for NFTs, music, and other digital assets.

Security: I participated in developing transaction simulation and phishing protection systems, not just at the design level, but also at the level of core ideas and principles.

Premium & Loyalty: developed Premium subscription, referral system and loyalty program.

Browser Extension: I designed the browser extension with multi-network support. This brought over 80k new active users monthly.

"Web3 moves incredibly fast. To succeed, we had to rapidly adapt and constantly innovate to stay ahead of trends and user expectations."

How did you determine which problems to solve? Tell us about your methodology.
We worked closely with the team and analyzed data to understand which problems to solve and what's happening in the market. Then came user interviews and surveys. We also often talked to our huge community, which was very active and helped us a lot.
Then we formulated hypotheses, for example: "People confuse Buy/Sell with Swap", "People don't understand the meaning of Bridge" and others, and then created prototypes.
We tested them on users, ran A/B experiments and iteratively improved solutions. This cycle of "problem → hypothesis → prototype → testing → improvement" became the foundation of our work.
How was the collaboration culture and design process built in the company?
At Zerion, almost everyone is passionate about crypto, so design decisions were discussed with product, technical, and even marketing teams. We collected feedback from colleagues — many used the product themselves.
This allowed us to find errors faster and improve UX. Regular design reviews and collaborative research sessions became an important part of the culture.
What Web3 challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The most serious challenge is the incredible speed of change. Web3 is a real "wild west": new standards and technologies appear every day, there are almost no ready-made solutions. We had to quickly adapt, constantly pivot and come up with new patterns.
Web3 is complex for any users. On one hand, we ensure freedom of owning the keys to your wallet, on the other hand, we must ensure security and protection from risks. Therefore, we constantly worked on improving UX in the security area, looking for a balance between transparency and ease of use.

Alpha Feed Case Study

Zerion Feed is a real-time trading discovery interface.

Aaimed to replace the manual, passive wallet-tracking flow with a fast, contextual, and actionable experience that helps users instantly react to market movements, follow relevant traders.

What conclusions did you make after these years?
The key lessons from my work at Zerion are:
  • Clear educational component is needed — Web3 requires explanations.
  • Learn to quickly change and iterate, pivot on the fly, don't fall in love with your solutions.
  • Early investment in scalable design systems always pays off.

Cross-Platform Design System

Establishing a design system that ensured consistency across iOS, Android, Web, and Web Extension was a testament to the foresight and scalability of our design approach.

We transformed an ordinary portfolio tracker into a reliable wallet, positioning it as a benchmark for design and usability in Web3.
